Physics or Philosphy

The other night on NOVA I learned about String Theory, what supposedly fulfills that which Einstein had pursued till his death (a unified field theory, or the theory of everything.)

Paradoxically, the string theory suggested multiple possibilities or dimensions, which was not genteel when the theory was meant to unify two apparently dichotomous principles (theory of relativity and quantum mechanics.)

A featured physicist asked, "Are we talking about physics, or are we talking philosophy?"

I think the answer is, "Yes."
