Goodbye, Wally
(1986-2002)
This
evening, we got a call from Cass's mum. Cass's dog, Wally, was put
to sleep. Cass and his family had Wally when Wally was just a pup.
Wally lived in Texas with Cass's parents. He was 16 years old (very,
very old even for a small dog.) The vet said "it was time,"
and no one wanted Wally to be in pain. It was only last night when
Cass and I talked about how old Wally was. Then this morning, Wally
died. Goodbye, Wally, we all cried.
Cass's mum told us that she had put an Angel figurine on the spot
where Wally used to sleep.
Days Later
Cass called me this morning from work. He told me that he dreamt about
Wally. In the dream, Cass and his mum were in their old house. Wally
appeared, prouncing about, and Cass stared in amazement. In his dream,
Cass knew that Wally was dead, but there it was, running around and
full of vigor. Cass called out, "Come here, Wally!" and
Wally bounded up to him.
"I felt as if it was Wally's way of saying goodbye." Cass
said.
